The Tiverton Taxpayers Association (TTA) is a local nonprofit organized by residents of Tiverton, Rhode Island. We seek to improve the lives of those with whom we're blessed to share this community.
Tiverton Cares is a nonprofit charity dedicated to community assistance, revitalization, education, and support in Tiverton. We aim to better connect those looking for support and those looking to help, and to raise awareness of community needs, good deeds, and volunteer opportunities in our community.
Our flagship program is Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Wherever there are gaps, where people have needs that are too small or unique to be covered by bigger programs from larger charities or government, we try to step in. Some recipients have been the tough stories you may have seen in the news, and others are families who have just needed a quiet helping hand for groceries or something else. Tiverton Cares is also fortunate to have the support of a broad pool of talented people with specialized skills, from carpentry to computers to law. We can't guarantee that we can fill all needs, but we can at least try to point our neighbors in the right direction.
Tiverton Fact Check (TFC) is the news and commentary site for TTA, as well as the home of our quasi-regular podcast, Tiverton on Track, and a repository for documents, data, and other information relevant to public discourse in our community.
The long-term vision is to develop a Web site providing accurate, accessible information to the people of Tiverton in a way that helps them balance the demands of modern life with the requirements of a representative democracy. Among the planned features are:
- Online apps to foster transparency in government activities
- Analysis of issues and controversies relevant to the governance of the town
- Fair and well-informed debates between advocates for all sides of issues
- An open forum for reasoned and reasonable discussion, including the ability to ask and answer questions that residents may have in their roles as voters and taxpayers
- Coverage of important events
Enjoy Tiverton helps inform local residents about interesting and fun events happening in town to raise awareness and encourage attendance and other support of the great features we have right here in our community. These can include local cultural events in the arts, school plays, music, as examples.
The core project of Enjoy Tiverton is maintaining a town-wide calendar of events. Keep an eye out for more-organized events and activities to showcase the town's many compelling offerings and to support local businesses and organizations.
TTA PAC is a political action committee working to advance the principles and goals of the Tiverton Taxpayers Association politically and at the ballot box. The PAC endorses candidates and works for the passage or defeat of ballot questions, including at the financial town referendum (FTR), with an eye toward ensuring value for taxpayers, which means high-quality services without waste and excessive taxation.
